About PTEF

About UsAbout the FoundationAbout Us

PTEF was established in December of 2006 with an initial donation of $3,000. The foundation's status as a 501(c)(3) organization allows that donations be tax-deductible. The Foundation is governed by a 16-member, all volunteer, Board of Directors. Each member serves on at least one of the Foundation's standing committees that currently include Finance, Marketing, Grants, and Events.
The Board normally meets once each month (second Wednesday) at the Portage Township Schools' Administration Center. The Board's Executive Committee oversees PTEF's daily operations.

A message from the President

In order to accomplish our mission to engage the Portage Township community in support of educational innovations that improve student achievement, we have developed the following objectives:

  • to create and maintain a marketing campaign designed to stimulate community awareness of PTEF's mission and foster its support

  • to develop a funding plan that will bridge the gap between the tax dollars provided for essential educational needs and the funds necessary for our students to achieve academic excellence

  • to encourage and support the creativity and innovations of our educational community

  • to recognize and reward educational excellence
